AI agents

# Let your AI agent sign up and check the email itself.

Coding agents build sign-up in minutes, then stall at “check your email”. With Proxy Mail QA, they create a test user, sign up through your app like a real person, and get the code or link back, without your database keys and without reading the email.

Free plan · Works with any MCP client · Signs in through your browser

_Illustration with sample data: you ask a coding agent to sign up on your local app; it calls create\_address, fills the form, calls wait\_for\_code, gets the code 482913 and confirms the account._

How it works

## From “check your email” to signed in, without you.

1. ### Connect once
Paste one setup prompt into your agent. It adds the Proxy Mail QA MCP server, and you sign in in your browser and choose a project. No key to copy.
2. ### Ask in plain words
“Sign up on localhost:3000 with a new test account and confirm the email.” Or reset a password, accept an invite, or sign in with a magic link.
3. ### It signs up like a real user
The agent creates a test address with a fictional persona and a password, fills in your app’s form and submits it.
4. ### It gets the code or link
It waits for the email, gets just the code or link, and finishes. If nothing arrives, it’s told why, such as an email provider in sandbox mode.

What agents can do

## More than reading a code.

### Create the user a test needs

A test address with a fictional name and username, a date of birth for an age (such as under 18), a country, and a strong password saved on the address, or the right value for every field of your sign-up form.

### Get codes and links

Verification and login codes, and verify, magic sign-in, invite and reset links. For mobile apps, the link that opens the app (myapp://…).

### Reuse test accounts

Find an account made earlier by its tags, age, country, saved password or text, instead of creating another, or borrow one confirmed to be in the state a test needs.

### Explain missing mail

Check an address at any time: what reached it, anything we refused and why, and the likely cause when nothing did.

### Keep details in step

After testing a password reset or a profile change, save the new password, name or date of birth on the account, so you can still sign in as it.

### Test unusual addresses

Variants of an address that should still be accepted (capitals, plus tags with apostrophes) and invalid ones that should be refused.

Safe by design

## Agents get what they need, and nothing more.

The alternatives to “check your email” usually mean giving an agent admin keys or turning confirmation off. This keeps your app’s real sign-up in the test, and your keys out of it.

- ### No database keys
The agent signs up through your app like a real user, so it never needs your database connection or your auth provider’s admin key.
- ### The code, not the email
Through MCP, the agent gets only the code or link and a few facts about it, never the email’s text, so an email can’t slip it instructions.
- ### Links stay unused
We never open links, so single-use links still work when the agent opens them.
- ### One project, revocable
The agent works in the one project you chose, as you. Disconnect it in Project settings at any time. Its access token lasts an hour and renews.
- ### Test sites only
Proxy Mail QA is for development, staging, QA, preview and local versions of apps you build or may test, never live ones.
- ### Every action recorded
What the agent creates and changes shows in the project’s activity log, under your name.

FAQ

## Questions

### Can my agent check password resets and invitations too?

Yes. The auth regression pack, an MCP prompt and an agent skill, has your agent check sign-up, password reset and invitations the same way every time, including links used twice and links replaced by newer ones. Its report says what changed since the last time it ran.

### Does Proxy Mail QA create accounts in my app?

No. It gives you a private inbox and the details for the sign-up form: a fictional name, a username and a password if you want one. You, your test or your agent signs up in your app like a real user; Proxy Mail QA then catches the email and hands you the code or link.

### Do I need an API key?

No. Agents that support it sign in through your browser: you choose a project and allow it. Tools that can’t sign in that way use an API key from Project settings instead.

### Will the agent see what the emails say?

Not through the MCP server: it returns the code or link, the sending service and when it expires. Test scripts using the REST API can ask for an email’s text or HTML when a test checks the wording.

### Can my agent test my staging site?

Some agents, including Claude, will only sign up on an app running on your computer (localhost). For staging, ask the agent to write a Playwright or Cypress test that uses the npm package, and run it yourself or in CI.

### Can tests check that an email didn’t arrive?

Yes. The REST API, the npm package and the Python helper can check that nothing arrived, such as no newsletter for an opted-out user, or count what did, such as exactly one verification email.

### Is it free?

Yes. The MCP server, the API and the npm package are on every plan, including Free.
