Proxy Mail QA

Testing both sides of a marketplace

Almost everything in a marketplace sends an email to someone else: an order to the seller, a reply to the buyer, a review request to both. You can only check those with an account on each side, signed in at the same time.

Updated

The accounts you need

Account Side What it checks
Seller Lists items, rooms or services Listing approval, new-order and message emails, payouts
Buyer Buys or books Order confirmation, messages, updates and review requests
Second buyer Wants the same thing Stock and double-booking rules, and “no longer available” emails
New seller Just signed up Onboarding, checks and any limits on new sellers
Moderator Admin or support Reports, disputes and takedowns, and the emails they trigger

Set them up

  1. Create the set in one go: choose Add account, set How many, label the batch “Marketplace” and tick Generate persona.
  2. Sign up as each and finish seller onboarding with test details on staging.
  3. Tag each address with its side, such as buyer, seller or moderator, and save its password on the address.
  4. Open two browser profiles side by side, one for the buyer and one for the seller.

What to check

The emails to check

For the seller: new order, new message, payout and review received. For the buyer: confirmation, shipped or booked, new message, refund and review request. Open both inboxes after each step and check they tell the same story.

Use these accounts only on a marketplace you build or are allowed to test, in development, staging or QA.

Questions

How do I sign in as buyer and seller at once?

Use two browser profiles, or a normal and a private window, one signed in as each. Each account's emails land on its own row in Proxy Mail QA, so you can follow a conversation from both ends.

How many accounts do I need?

Usually four or five: a buyer, a seller, a second buyer for competing orders, a brand-new seller, and a moderator if your marketplace has one. The same set works for hosts and guests, clients and freelancers, or drivers and riders.

Can I test payments and payouts?

Use your payment provider's test mode on a staging copy of your marketplace. The order, payout and refund emails your app sends arrive like any other.
